Chronoswiss Imperator Constance Luxury Watch Review

http://www.thewatchbox.com Graced with a name given to Roman Caesars and spanning 56mm from lug-to-lug, the Chronoswiss Imperator Constance is a commanding timepiece for a confident wrist. The stainless steel Chronoswiss Imperator proves that dress watches are anything but a mild-mannered undercard to the sports watch class. Oversized sports watches, meet your match. From 1983 to 2011, Chronoswiss and its individualistic founder Gerd-Rudiger Lang produced small volumes of mechanical watches designed for contrarians who refused to accept the obsolescence of traditional watchmaking. Volumes were small; only 4-6,000 timepieces per year left the firm's Munich, Germany headquarters during Chronoswiss' peak years. That's the numerical equivalent of a few days' output at Rolex headquarters in Geneva... The Chronoswiss Imperator arrived towards the end of the G-R Lang era at Chronoswiss. Now discontinued, the Imperator represents a standout styling statement by a watchmaker determined to go out in style. With a hulking polished steel case and screw-retained alligator strap, the Imperator offers an alternative to large-watch enthusiasts who prefer not to wear a psudo-diving tool to the office. The case features a number of considered details that break up the mass and impart pronounced dynamism to the aesthetic. From end to end, the Imperator is cambered like a suspension bridge; its apparent 'loft" traces the gentle arc of the wrist. Scalloped lower flanks segue from the sheer of the case flanks to the sapphire display crystal of the case back, and a slight longitudinal "Coke bottle" curvature allows the lugs to flair dramatically at each end. Each Chronoswiss Imperator Constance features a dial with visual drama to match the imposing steel case. A silver metallic finish with vertically-brushed graining accentuates the impression of dynamic tension evident in the flow of the case lines. Calculated asymmetry in the form of a date window and unequally sized numerals commands attention. The outermost extremities of the blue hands feature a diamond profile that is unique to the Chronoswiss Imperator Constance. Within the cavernous confines of its case, the Chronoswiss Imperator features a high-grade ETA 2892-A2 automatic movement. With a 42-hour power reserve, jump-date, and a stop-seconds feature for precise time-setting, this caliber grants the Imperator durability and precision. Chronoswiss enhances the movement with a customized golden winding rotor worthy of a watch named in honor of ancient Rome's imperial potentates.
