http://www.thewatchbox.com Rubens Barichello was one hell of a driver. In any but the Schumacher Era, Barichello would have been remembered as one of Formula One's all-time greats. Holder of the F1 Superlicense at only 19, winner of 11 Grands Prix, and 18-year veteran of racing's toughest circuit, Rubens deserves an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore named in his honor. And AP gave him not one but TWO great ones. The Barichello One, as it has come to be known, began the homage process in 2005 With its titanium case, Brazilian-flag dial motifs, and 0-60 numeral calibration, the Barichello One is a standout even among Offshores. While other runs of AP's limited ROOs can be difficult to tell apart or even anonymous, the Barichello One stands among the few that even non-AP collectors can instantly identify by name. At 42mm and rendered in lightweight titanium, the "B1" is remarkably wearable for such a beefcake sports watch. The rubber-wrapped bezel offers unexpected practicality by shielding the Royal Oak bezel from the scratches and scuffs that inevitably send its AP brethren back to Le Brassus for refinishing. As if there weren't enough reasons to love the "Rubens," this titanium variant is exceptionally rare; only 150 were built. It is available with a full factory box, document, manual, and accessory set from the pre-owned luxury watch experts at thewatchbox.com Video and content by Tim Mosso.
