Baselworld 2018: Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe Annual Calendar

Please Subscribe: https://www.youtube.com/c/WatchBoxStudios/?sub_confirmation=1 The Blancpain Fifty Fathoms was the first true dive watch, and Baselworld 2018 marks its 65th anniversary. In honor of this milestone machine, Blancpain’s Fifty Fathoms has been enhanced with never before seen manner of measuring the lapse of years; an annual calendar. Watchbox Studios is pleased to introduce the 2018 Fifty Fathoms BATHYSCAPHE ANNUAL CALENDAR. The new Bathyscaphe annual calendar dive watch features a 43mm in stainless steel case identical to THE BATHYSCAPHE first offered at Baselworld 2013. 300-meter diving depth is retained. Grey sunburst dials, full satin case finish, and ceramic bezels remain as standard features of this Baselworld 2018 novelty. Technically the first Blancpain reference 5071, the TRIPLE APERTURE DISPLAY annual calendar dive watch brings a complete calendar to the Bathyscaphe family eight years after a complete simple calendar was added to the big-brother Fifty Fathoms. A NEW ANNUAL CALENDAR, this watch will feature the first application of CALIBER 6054P, a 72-hour automatic based on the F. Piguet 1150. A similar caliber is in service already with the Blancpain VILLERET ANNUAL GMT. This 2018 Blancpain Bathyscaphe Annual Calendar’s caliber 6054P dial side features three wheels for the TRIPLE DATE DISPLAY and superb finishing for a user non-viewable set of components. THREE MODELS will be offered on sailcloth strap, textile, or a full bracelet: they are Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe Annual calendar references 5071-1110-NABA, 5071-1110-B52A, 5071-1110-70B. Pricing is not yet available, but I estimate a price range between the steel Bathyscaphe Chono at $14,800 and the $17,200 ceramic version of that watch. The logic of a complex calendar on a dive watch: either ridiculous or ridiculously useful. While no diver needs to see even a simple date, much less a TRIPLE APERTURE DISPLAY, the fact is that dive watches are – largely thanks to Rolex – the standard all-arounders of the luxury watch market. We buy them to wear full-time in the office, the club, the pool, the beach, and the home. Framed thusly, Blancpain’s NEW ANNUAL CALENDAR becomes incredibly useful for daily reference, and a complex calendar offers even more. Since the Bathyscaphe was designed to be a more discreet and versatile Fifty Fathoms than the flamboyant 45mm ref. 5015, it makes sense to offer this consummate daily-used complication on the Bathyscaphe rather than its older brother.
