Breitling Skyracer Raven Luxury Watch Review

http://www.thewatchbox.com The Breitling Skyracer Raven is a pilot's watch that flies in the face of Breitling's norm. With its rubber-clad bezel, ideal-size 43.5mm case, and all of the technology expected of a Breitling professional watch, the Skyracer Raven is the perfect choice for a Breitling fan put off by 49mm high-polished cases and chaotic dial designs. Take a look at this blue guillocher dial; it's a bi-compax layout (twin sundial) with clear-as-day applied hour indexes. There's none of the confusion inherent in the layout of the Navitimer's intricate dial calibrations. While the Skyracer Raven features the famed circular slide rule, it's there if you want it, and invisible if you don't. The key distinction is that conventional hours, minutes, and seconds are as clear as day. Breitling's caliber 27 chronometer-grade automatic chronograph movement features a few key tricks that keep the dial legible. First and foremost, the chronograph seconds and minutes are tracked by large center-mounted hands for quick reference to the two most common chronograph reference figures. A mono-counter at nine o'clock allows the chromo minutes and hours to be read off of a single sundial; the subdial at three o'clock is the constant seconds hand. Breitling offsets the bright polish of the stainless steel case with a matte-black rubber bezel that features apertures for flush-fitting steel calibration marks. The result is a tastefully balanced aesthetic that wears well with formal, casual, and professional cockpit attire; there's no place that the Breitling Skyracer Raven isn't welcome. Add a versatile rubber strap and a 200m water resistance rating, and it becomes clear there's also no place the Skyracer dare not venture. It's not a Navitimer, a Bentley, an Aerospace, or a Superocean, but the Breitling Skyracer Raven may be precisely the watch you want if Breitling is your passion but your wear your iconoclast credentials on your sleeve.
