Whether you count yourself among Rolex buyers or independent horology diehards, we have news for you! We open with an FP Journe vs. Czapek & Cie. showdown that pits the living-legend Chronometre Bleu agains the upstart Czapek Quai de Bergues with Rainforest green guilloche dial. Watch collectors get a front-row seat as Tim relates quick headlines from Vaucher Manufacture, the movement arm of Parmigiani Fleurier, NOMOS Glashutte and its new Autobahn Neomatic 41, and Moritz Grossmann. NOMOS and Moritz Grossmann have been awarded Red Dot recognition for excellence in design on the basis of their Autobahn and Atum Enamel and Benu Tourbillon, respectively. The 2018 Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Grande Date 5050 may be the least discussed of Baselworld 2018's high-luxury sports watches, but it easily eclipses the appeal of in-house Swatch rival Breguet's new Breguet Marine 5517. Ulysse Nardin has launched its newest and most affordable Ulysse Nardin Freak collection since the original model's 2001 debut. The new Ulysse Nardin Freak Out collection starts at $48,000 U.S. and offers four titanium variants on sailcloth straps with folding buckles. Meanwhile, Tutima of Glashutte has advanced its state-of-the-art with the 43mm rose gold Tutima Patria Power Reserve. The flagship dress watch from Tutima offers a manufacture movement, caliber 618, with a manual 65-hour power reserve, a Breguet overcoil hairspring on a free-sprung balance, and movement finish in the finest German horological tradition. Finally, we salute the luxury watch journalists at Watch Collecting Lifestyle and their superb showcase of Baselworld 2018's Greubel Forsey Quadruple Tourbillon Blue.
