Girard-Perregaux WW.TC USA-76 Luxury Watch Review

http://www.thewatchbox.com/watches/girard-perregaux This 1-of-750 limited edition 43mm Girard-Perregaux WW.TC USA-76 in polished stainless steel is a luxury watch for collectors who love complications and manufacture pedigrees. Sporty in its details but sufficiently refined to pass black-tie muster, the Girard-Perregaux WW.TC USA-76 offers an almost overwhelming catalog of content to its fortunate owner. Launched in 2005 to commemorate the BMW Oracle America's Cup Syndicate, the Girard-Perregaux WW.TC USA-76 proved an ideal timing companion for the team's 2010 and 2013 Cup championships; this example is ready to hit the waves for summer 2015. GP takes its celebrated WW.TC Chronograph series and enhances the functionality of its signature timepiece with a high-contrast hands and calibrations. Unique high-visibility “broad arrow” hands offer easy reference to the local time. The sunken silver registers of the WW.TC chronograph provide easy reference below the primary time display. At the periphery of the dial, a local date window and 24-hour world time reference system offer functionality that no “GMT” or “Dual Time” watch can rival. Using the world time chapter ring, the owner of a Girard-Perregaux WW.TC can reference instantly the time in all 24 major time zones and keep track of the window for traders in one zone to execute transactions with professionals in another. The Girard-Perregaux haute horlogerie pedigree is present in force. Not only does this complicated chronograph integrate a world time function, but it does so while accommodating a chronograph, jump-date, automatic winding system, and AM/PM indication. The explicit BMW Oracle team tribute is featured exclusively on an engraved dedication on the case back. Syndicate sponsor Golden Gate Yacht Club of San Francisco acts as the reference point for the US west coast time zone, and USA-76’s status as “Challenger of Record” is written discreetly at six o’clock. A special blue-and-red calibration permits the chronograph minutes scale to serve as a countdown timer for regatta (sailboat match racing). None of these special-interest marks will prove obtrusive; the additions on the dial read as playful accents of color when viewed from arm's length. Girard-Perregaux is a true manufacture that designs and fabricates almost every portion of its watches. While this may sound elementary to casual observers of the luxury watch sector, it is also extremely rare; most Swiss watchmakers outsource heavily. The complex contours, exquisite finish, and superb ergonomics of the 43mm case and matching steel deployant buckle are the products of Girard-Perregaux’s in-house case fabrication team. A GP033C0 automatic movement can be viewed through the sapphire case back, and it offers the owner a clinic in fine finish. Beveled bridges, grained levers, perlaged plates, and polished screws speak to the level of attention and traditional hand-labor lavished on this piece.
