Shop all Glashutte Original watches: http://bit.ly/2Lv7Jlu A tribute to vintage watches and a strikingly modern statement in its own right, the 2018 Glashutte Original Vintage Sixties Panorama Date offers the most spectacular dial of this model year -- at any price! This automatic men's watch is neither a sports watch nor a dress watch but an all-arounder for wrists of all sizes. Glashutte Original owns a dial factor in Pforzheim Germany. That factory begins the fabrication process with a 60-ton press. Once stamped, the Vintage Sixties "degrade" dial is lacquered by hand to create the striking gradient fade of color from the center to the outer dial. No two watches will be identical. The sixtes-inspired quarter Arabi numerals and hashes are applied by transfer, and the hour indices are machined recessions in the dial that have been polished at their base to create a three dimensional effect. Glashutte Original's characteristic "Panoramadatum" is present with white-on-black printing and a judiciously stepped aperture at six o'clock. The double digit date co-exists with narrow polished steel hour, minute, and seconds hands; Super Luminova ensures night time visibility. The 42mm polished stainless steel case is narrow and physically distinct from its gently arching lugs; the going between the two evokes the vintage watch classics of the 1960s to which Glashutte Original pays homage. A domed sapphire crystal emulates the distortion of a 1960s Plexiglas crystal without the scratch risk of thermoplastics. A second vaulted sapphire crystal covers the manufacture Glashutte Original caliber 39-47. This German watch includes an in house German watch movement to match; automatic winding and 40-hour power reserve are included. The caliber includes hacking (stop seconds), a quickset date, and a beat rate of 28,800 vibrations per hour. The movement is decorated with Glashutte stripes, double spiral polish of the winding reduction wheel, and black polish of the swan's neck regulator and screw heads. The watch is water resistant to 30 meters. The Glashutte Original Sixties Panorama Date 2-39-47-04-02-04 is encased in 42mm of stainless steel surrounding a green dial on a black leather strap. Functions include hours, minutes, seconds, and date. The watch also measures 11.8mm in thickness and 48.5mm from lug-to-lug. For complete details, watch the full review!
