Originally released in 2006, the vertical-trigger Amvox2 chronograph remains entirely unique eight years later. A true concept watch come to life, the Amvox2's highly technical style has yielded nothing to time. True to its name, the Amvox2 is the second fruit of the collaboration between Aston Martin and Jaeger-LeCoultre. As a supplier to Aston Martin (speedometers and tachometers) through its Jaeger instrument division since the 1920s, JLC has a history with Aston that pre-dates modern luxury co-branding. Together, Jaeger and Aston have won at LeMans and graced premier driving roads around the world. When the two titans formally announced work on a series of jointly-inspired watches in 2004, it merely cemented a longstanding tie. And the Amvox2 is a watch worthy of this heritage. The chronograph is activated by pressing the crystal at 12 o'clock. Pressing the crystal at 6 rests the chronograph. Because gloved hands (as in motorsports) do not play well with tiny screw-down pushers, JLC wanted to make its chronograph easy to operate in the heat of battle. Mission accomplished. The dial of the Amvox2 chronograph recalls the very dashboard instruments on which the Aston Martin / Jaeger relationship was founded. Its 270 sweep of numerals in interrupted by a skeletonized portion at the base; visible chronograph hammers lie beneath the dial. Multiple layers, textures, and colors create outstanding visual interest and complexity that captivates the eyes of an Amvox2's fortunate owner. Exterior portions of the 44mm titanium case sport a complex finish that alternates between high polish and linear brushed metal. The crown at 3 o'clock - the only crown on this innovative chronograph - has been styled to resemble the gas cap of a vintage Aston Martin. This Jaeger-LeCoultre Amvox2 Chronograph is available from thewatchbox.com with full factory boxes, papers, and accessories. One of only 750 examples of this style - the original Amvox2 - this is an outstanding "daily driver" with superb potential to become a collectible watch. As an icon of innovation and true trailblazer, this is one of the most significant modern Jaeger-LeCoultre references. Video and content by Tim Mosso.
