Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra Small Seconds Review With Prices, Wrist Shots And Preowned Luxury Watches

Contact tmosso@thewatchbox.com for pricing and availability; Either I have it, or I can get it! The 2021 Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra Small Seconds is the first major addition to the Aqua Terra collection since the 2019 Aqua Terra Worldtimer and Ultra Light models. At 41mm in stainless steel and Sedna gold, today’s example of the surf-turf Seamaster Aqua Terra blends warm colors in subtle contrast to create an elegant luxury watch suitable for any occasion. Omega launched the original Seamaster Aqua Terra collection in 2002. As the replacement for the long-running Seamaster 120 series, the Aqua Terra arrived without the rotating bezels and “professional” dive watch credentials of the brand’s James Bond-endorsed Seamaster Diver 300M. Relieved of any mandate to support amateur divers, the Aqua Terra became a watch that a man or woman could wear anywhere from the deck of a yacht to the ballroom of a yacht club. As a three-hand watch with a date, robust water resistance, and automatic winding, the Aqua Terra also serves as Omega’s rival to the Rolex Datejust family of watches. The new Aqua Terra Small Seconds, technically named the “AQUA TERRA 150M CO‑AXIAL MASTER CHRONOMETER SMALL SECONDS 41 MM,” is based on the Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra redesign launched at Baselworld 2017. Major changes from the previous model included a new date location at six o’clock, elimination of the case’s crown guards, and new horizontal dial channels inspired by the “teak decks” of certain luxury yachts. For 2021, Omega moves the seconds hand to a sub-dial at six o’clock that shares space with the date window. Additional rose gold trim frames the seconds sub-dial. Across the primary dial, Omega employs a metallic blue grey sunburst and applied rose gold hour indices. The hour and minute hand feature polishing and satin surfaces for dramatic effect. Internally, Omega Master Chronometer caliber 8916 provides power. This automatic mechanical movement includes twin mainspring barrels and 60 hours of power reserve. A silicon hairspring and antimagnetic escapement offer significant protection against magnetic field strength of over 15,000 Gauss. The Master Chronometer certification tests the entire watch to ISO 3159 chronometer standards but also adds winding efficiency, power reserve, water resistance, shock resistance, and antimagnetic tests. Omega’s latest co-axial escapement regulates the watch and impulses a balance wheel beating at 25,200 vibrations per hour. Water resistance is rated at 150 meters.
