About Pasha

During the early 1930s, The Pasha of Marrakesh, Thami El Glaoui, commissioned Cartier to create a watch that was durable enough to keep up with an active lifestyle and sustain a level of water-resistance that was not common at the time. What came from this was a gold watch released in 1943 that featured a round case, screw down back, and centrally positioned lugs. After this watch was wound and set, the wearer could screw the cap back on the crown with ease. In fact, losing the cap was nearly impossible because it was attached to the case with a small chain. Today, Cartier claims that the modern Pasha collection pays tribute to the Pasha of Marrakesh who was passionate about fine watchmaking. It’s also widely recognized for its iconic crown guard and it has never been changed, remaining a hallmark of the collection.

The first official iteration of the Pasha De Cartier was not named or released until 1985 after a redesign by legendary Gerald Genta. In 1997, Cartier released a remarkable limited-edition Pasha that featured the highly coveted and sought-after grid dial in celebration of their 150th anniversary. Only 1,847 pieces were produced in reference to the company’s birth year. Then in 2020, new men’s and women’s Pasha pieces inspired by the original design were released, equipped with in-house calibers. Today, you can find a number of iterations and complications, from the female-focused Miss Pasha and Pasha C to the more utilitarian Pasha Seatimer Chronograph with an automatic caliber and 100m water-resistance. Additionally, the Pasha De Cartier is available in a number of metals including yellow and rose gold, as well as stainless steel. Crafted intentionally for women, the Miss Pasha flaunts a small 27mm frame and is only 7.6mm thick. It also includes a precise quartz movement and a crown cap set with a synthetic spinel cabochon. This iteration is available in a pink or silver dial, and select models also feature diamonds.

Pasha C

While this model is not exclusively for women, it is on the smaller side for a unisex watch. Cartier offers a Pasha C option with a GMT function, and it has a date display at the 4:30 position. Finally, the GMT model is known for its decorative globe element on the dial.

Flying Tourbillon Skeleton

Considered “haute horlogerie,” the Cartier Pasha Flying Tourbillon Skeleton showcases a 18k white gold case, an in-house manual caliber 9457 MC, a tourbillon at the 6 o’clock position, and a dial made of the movement’s bridges.

Seatimer Chronograph
