Patek Philippe Nautilus Moonphase & Aquanaut Full Bracelet Plus A Luxury Preowned Watch Guide

Contact tmosso@thewatchbox.com for pricing and availability; Either I have it, or I can get it! Luxury preowned watches are the stars on Tim Mosso’s “Wake Up with Watches!” Today’s show features a broad range of the best watch brands and models headlined by the spectacular Patek Philippe Nautilus Moonphase 5712. Add a Patek Philippe Aquanaut 5167/1A and over a dozen other timepieces, and you have the most compelling luxury watch gallery on YouTube. This is the connoisseur’s companion for haute horlogerie watch collecting! Patek Philippe launched the Nautilus Moonphase 5712 at Baselworld 2006. The one-year reference 3712 anticipated the new Nautilus Moonphase, but subtle dial distinctions set the new watch apart from the older model. At 40mm and 8.8mm thick, the Nautilus 5712 maintains the critical proportions of the “core” Patek Philippe 5711 model. However, the caliber 240 micro rotor adds considerably to the mechanical refinement relative to the 5711’s elementary center rotor caliber 324. A sapphire display caseback permits easy appreciation of the finishing and architecture of the caliber 240. Patek Philippe specifies a 48-hour power reserve, and a robust “Gyromax” style balance architecture ensures durability with precision. The movement also includes a date indicator, a moonphase display, and a power reserve indicator. Water resistance for this Nautilus is 60-meters. That’s sufficient for surface swimming but not for deeper submergence. On the dial side, the Nautilus 5712 retains most of the fundamentals of the 3712. Details change, but the overall execution remains faithful to the original Nautilus Moonphase of 2005. For those who prefer simplicity and water resistance, the Patek Philippe Aquanaut 5167/1A is the perfect companion. Although generally equipped with a rubber strap, the standard Aquanaut automatic can be paired with a full stainless steel factory bracelet to match its steel case. 120-meter water resistance ensures swimming security that is identical to the Nautilus 5711. The 5167/1A’s dial lume is powerful, and automatic winding ensures convenient daily use. Inside the Aquanaut’s 40.8mm case, a Patek caliber 324 automatic keeps time. This example uses the latest version of the 324 with a silicon “Spiromax” hairspring, ceramic rotor bearings, six-position adjustment, and the Patek Philippe seal. Those features in combinations allow Patek to guarantee the accuracy of the watch at -3/+2 seconds per day or better. • 33:41 A.
