The Minimalist Master Collection

Sleek, refined, and contemporary without question, Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Master series is everything you need featuring nothing you don’t. These impressive, elegant Swiss timepieces are available in three core suites including the Master Grande Tradition, Master Ultra Thin, and Master Control—arguably a fourth can be added with the Master Compressor series. Each features its own array of impressive complications and design hallmarks, but they all have one element in common: their rounded shape and exquisite attention to detail. The brand’s minimalist approach to this line achieves a strikingly slim watch without sacrificing durability. In fact, Jaeger-LeCoultre’s “1,000 Hour Test” ensures that every aspect of these watches meet their exacting quality standards. Today, this test is considered to be one of the most rigorous in the industry. There’s no wonder why this collection is best dubbed “Master”—dare we say, the master of it all. Searching for other options that are similar in style? Explore our entire pre-owned selection of dress watches from top brands like Patek Philippe, H. Moser & Cie, and more.

The Four Master Suites

For such a simple design, the Master collection sure knows how to complicate things—from a technical precision and features standpoint, that is. Learn more about the four main Master suites with these highlights.

  • Master Grande Tradition

Perhaps one of the most compelling aspects of the Master Grande Tradition collection is that it features one of the brand’s most riveting calibres yet—the calibre 945. This movement incorporates both a minute repeater and a celestial vault, as well as an orbital flying tourbillon. It’s extremely complex and undoubtedly a watchmaking feat for the ages. Additionally, it operates on a sidereal day, which is based on the Earth’s rotation measured relative to the “fixed” stars.

  • Master Ultra Thin

For those who prefer a timepiece that’s a bit smaller on the wrist, the elegant Master Ultra Thin is a great option. This collection features precious metal cases and are under 10mm thick, usually offset by a rich alligator leather strap. • Master Control

Launched in 1992, the Master Control collection was the first from the brand to benefit from its “1,000 Hours Control” certification which inspired the collection’s name. Since its release, the Master Control collection has been impressing collectors with high technical standards, harnessing the best of both watchmaking tradition and contemporary style. Today, the suite’s refreshed design still draws inspiration from the classic, round timepieces made by the Grande Maison in the 1950s. Now, new Master Control pieces feature a 40mm case, an outwardly sloping bezel, dynamically curved lugs, elongated triangular-shaped applied indexes, and Dauphine hands. They also boast a beautiful sunray brushed dial. As far as features are concerned, this collection doesn’t disappoint—it includes classic date pieces, a triple calendar complication option, and now for the first time, a chronograph with a triple calendar display and moonphase. • Master Compressor

The fascinating Master Compressor was released in 2002, but the since discontinued collection sent shockwaves through the industry with its patented waterproof system. It’s a rugged dive watch and available in a selection of fine metals like ceramic, gold, titanium, and stainless steel.
